2014-2015 Serie A Predictions: Week 15 (Part 3)

Genoa- Week 15

Cesena vs. Fiorentina

Match Date: 14 December 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Dino Manuzzi

Cesena dropped to the 19th spot of the league table after suffering a narrow defeat to Atalanta. From the looks of it, there’s no doubt that the club is a strong relegation candidate this season. The slip in the relegation zone was rather expected considering the fact that they haven’t won a single match in its last 6 encounters.

But Cesena’s nightmares are far from over. Their next match is pitted against Fiorentina, which was pretty successful in clinching a draw with the heavy online betting favorite, Juventus.

The Violas currently occupies the 9th spot of the league table. It also enjoys a 3-match undefeated streak, thus, going against them would be a difficult one.

Cesena, however, can hope for a draw. But just like clinching a win, it will not be an easy one.

Cesena 0-2 Fiorentina

Genoa- Week 15

Genoa vs. AS Roma

Match Date: 14 December 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Olimpico

A down the wire match is to be expected between Genoa and AS Roma. Both squads belong to Serie A’s elite and it will be difficult for both clubs to give way.

Currently, Genoa is the 3rd best club in Serie A. The team is at its peak with the improvements and changes that they’ve made. Last season, Genoa bled to death in trying to veer away from the relegation zone. They landed on the 14th spot and it looked like the poor finish generated a traumatic experience that the club no longer wants to go through such painstaking moment again.

Genoa’s relentless run and impressive displays further attracted attention when they secured a narrow win against the favorite, AC Milan. The latter was a worthy opponent and outlasting them brings honor to the winning team.

But it seems that Genoa’s rampage is at risk of being temporarily prevented. The noise that they created can be momentarily silenced when they visit Stadio Olimpico and face the title contender, AS Roma.
Rudi Garcia and his club have been very consistent this season. Despite the occasional stumbles and slips that they have, they are able to get-up and recover quickly.

The capital club maintains a 6-point lead against Genoa. On a closer look, the result of their match barely matters for Roma will still occupy the 2nd spot of the league table. Yet, losing has no room in Garcia’s plan. A loss will put them out of the title race. For Roma, every match is an opportunity to move closer to Juventus and eventually, win the scudetto this season.

Roma cannot afford to rest and so is Genoa. The upcoming match will be a classic one, there’s no doubt about it. However, in as far as the results are concerned, it is evident that the odds favor the capital club.

Genoa 1-2 AS Roma
