Match Predictions: Bundesliga (Week 9)

Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling v Shakhtar Donetsk

Against Augsburg, Bayer will prove that they do not have time scoring phantom goals, while Mainz 05 will try to move away from the relegation as they meet the improving Braunschweig.

Mainz 05 vs. Braunschweig Match Preview

Match Date: 26 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Coface Arena

Team Form

Mainz 05

Bayern Munchen’s come from behind win stunned Mainz 05 and left them struggling on Bundesliga’s 14th spot.

Mainz 05 has failed to capitalize on their early dominance. Shawn Parker’s goal on the 44th looked to be the first and only goal of the match. However, the genius Pep Guardiola made a lineup change, which immediately delivered results.

This was not the first time that a late pitch rally (victimized) Mainz. The same scenario was seen during the battle against Hertha Berlin. Nicolai Muller nailed the first goal. But in the end Sami Allagui and Anis Ben Hatira’s consecutive shots stole the victory.

The defeat against Bayern Munchen was the 5th for Mainz and evidently, a poor attempt to recover from their 4 consecutive losses.

Braunschweig has reasons to be optimistic. They gave Schalke a hard time scoring that victory and if not for Roman Neustadter’s late goal, the match could have ended in a draw.

The Lions currently sits at the bottom of the Bundesliga table with just a single win (against Wolfsburg), 7 losses and a draw. However, the improvements are evident. Against Schalke, the club were able to pull off more than a single goal. This is in stark contrast to their previous performances where their opponents thrashed them easily.

Perhaps the encounter against Schalke signals a new beginning‚ÄĒa better and fiercer Braunschweig. One can only hope that they observe consistency simply because with every match that takes place, the season is also nearing its end and by the time that they have achieved their full form, it might be too late.

Football betting tip: Mainz 05 2-1 Braunschweig

Expect Braunschweig to come out strong. But at the end of the day, it will be  Mainz 05’s better form that will definitely call the shots.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Augsburg Match Preview

Match Date: 26 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Bay Arena

Team Form

Bayer Leverkusen

Stefan Kiessling’s controversial phantom goal, which triggered a call for a rematch barely affected the player’s performance and the so is the club’s strength. In the Champions League, the club thrashed Shakhtar Donetsk with 4 goals to nil. Back in the domestic league, it is the 3rd best squad, which is just a point short from the table leader, Bayern Munchen.

Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling v Shakhtar Donetsk

Despite the buzz lurking around the Leverkusen camp, a rematch will hardly bother Bayer. With 7 wins, a loss and a draw, they will remain as one of the strongest forces in the pitch and expect them to show the same degree of ferociousness when they face Augsburg, most especially nowadays when Kiessling tend to enjoy scoring more points for the squad.

Augsburg is still far from the relegation zone. But this does not give them the time to relax. A loss to Wolfsburg barely helped them get pass the 13th spot. Currently, they have only accumulated 10 points, thanks to its 3 victories and a draw. The rest of its 5 matches ended in a draw and unless the club man up in the pitch, they are in danger of falling not only in the relegation, but also in Bundesliga.

Football betting tip: Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Augsburg

Stefan Kiessling will further prove that he can do better than a phantom goal. Expect Bayer to dominate the match and secure the victory.
