The last five weeks of Bundesliga have been a roller coaster ride for Hoffenheim. After ranking within the top five (and even atop the league table) for several weeks since season opening, the squad have been struggling with inconsistency which caused them to plummet into the mid-table. While they may have won against Hannover 96 and [most recently] Frankfurt, they have wasted several points after succumbing to Cologne, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund. They remain very strong in counter attacking and creating scoring chances, but they must be a little more cautious about their defense.

Bayer Leverkusen debuted in the season as the strongest side of the league and while they remain as one of the favorites to win the title, they have been overtaken by two other squads: breakthrough team Wolfsburg and defending champions Bayern Munich. Overall, however, the side are incredibly impressive. Their attack is superb, characterized by a knack for creating and finishing chances, shooting from direct free kicks, and attacking set pieces.

Football betting tip: Bayer Leverkusen will lord this match over. Hoffenheim, however, will not go home goalless.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Werder Bremen

Match Date: 18 December 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Borussia Park

After winning back-to-back victories against Hertha Berlin and Zurich, M’gladbach went on to steal one point from Bayer Leverkusen in their brawl at BayArena. The 1-1 battle produced goals that were both scored in the first half. Hakan Calhanogly opened the scoring for Leverkusen before Roel Brouwers netted an equalizer just five minutes into half-time. The deadlock ensured that M’gladbach will remain in the top four, although they are now level on points with fifth placers Augsburg.

Werder Bremen are still in the relegation zone after only earning one point from their match against Hannover 96. Their performance, however, was quite entertaining. Both sides fired three goals, with two equalizers coming from Bremen. This feat, nevertheless, cannot hide the fact that the squad are struggling in the season. There is still a huge room for improvement in their attack, set piece management, and most importantly, their discipline.

Sports betting tip: Monchengladbach have the better odds at winning this brawl over Bremen.

 Paderborn 16

Paderborn vs. Schalke 04

Match Date: 18 December 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Benteler-Arena

Although Paderborn have already reached the summit of the table once this season and Schalke never been part of the top four, current rankings tell a totally different story. The home side already rank lower than their guests, with five points making the disparity. While Schalke managed to earn improvements, Paderborn lost traction and inevitably dwindled in the tournament.

Paderborn have been winless in the past five weeks of the German top-flight, losing twice (to Augsburg and Werder Bremen) and drawing thrice (with Dortmund, Freiburg, and Wolfsburg). Both their losses saw them earn zero goals. Schalke, meanwhile, earned three victories from their five most recent battles in Bundesliga, while the remaining two were defeats. Although their record is far from being clean, they fight with utmost resilience and robust determination.

Online betting tip: Schalke 04 and Paderborn will produce a stalemate.
