Ligue 1 Round-Up (Week 13): PSG Slices Marseille’s Lead; Nantes Remains Unstoppable

Week highlights
Once again, the highly anticipated Le Classique was the main attraction of the French League last week. Many looked forward to a one of a kind entertainment and they were not disappointed.
The celebrated match ended with the online betting favorite, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) getting the three (3) points against its nemesis, Marseille. The Parisians netted two (2) goals courtesy of Lucas Moura and the unstoppable, El Matador, Edinson Cavani.
On the other hand, Marseille barely reacted. It had several scoring chances, but many ended in disappointing misses.
Due to the said loss, PSG was able to lessen Marseille’s lead to one (1), thus, increasing its possibilities of snatching a strong title defence.
The Parisians, however, are not the only team that is in a celebratory mood. Lyon’s loud roar continues across the top-flight league as it clinched another important victory when it thrashed Guingamp. The club has never been defeated since it last had its taste of an even steven finish against Nantes.
Speaking of Nantes, there is no doubt that the club is one of the league’s rising stars. The club currently enjoys a 6-match undefeated streak and already occupies the 5th spot of the league table.
Scene-stealers
Criticized for his alleged lack of contribution to the squad, Cavani is proving his detractors wrong. Indeed, he currently owns the stage and shows the great pitch Matador in him.
The blunders
A wave of disappointment lingers within Lille’s camp. A strong title contender last season, the club’s stay at the bottom of the league table is a big blow to the squad and its supporters’ morale.
What to expect
The mighty Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his appearance in Le Classique. However, he was soon substituted by Ezequiel Lavezzi. Ibrahimovic has been suffering from an injury that has kept him sidelined. Nevertheless, many are hoping that his appearance last week did not aggravate the situation and that he could play again.
