FBL-FRA-LIGUE1-EVIAN-AJACCIO

Match Date: 28 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Parc des Sports, Annecy

Evian TG

Evian have stretched their underproductive run in Ligue 1 to a ninth week after they conceded two goals and dropped all three points in their most recent match against Bordeaux 2-1. Julien Faubert’s 52nd-minute opener and Henri Saivet’s late header were crucial to the hosts’ win, denying Kevin Berigaud and his team to collect at least one goal even if he was able to fire an equalizer in the 73rd minute. Things may have been different had Modou Sougou converted the first plausible chance of the meeting, but his low right-footed drive from Cedric Barbosa’s lay-off was kept out by Bordeaux goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso.

Evian are struggling at number 17, only above the relegation zone by mere two points, which means that they could plunge into the abyss anytime if they still fail to pull off a victory in their subsequent fixtures.

Nantes

Their visitors only needed 16  minutes to fire an early lead against them, making it a complete embarrassment for Michel Der Zakarian as he saw his men tumble to another home defeat in Ligue 1. Nantes were thrashed by Rennes at the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau on weekend to incur their seventh time to surrender all three points to their guests. Overall, the defeat was Les Canaris’ 13th this season, potentially making them at risk at falling into the drop zone. They currently rank at number 14 with total earnings of 31 points and a goal difference of -5.

Football betting tip: This battle will see both strugglers harness all their resources in the most efficient ways they could. Evian and Nantes are off to grueling, neck-and-neck faceoff. A deadlock should seal this meeting.
