Although still ranked within the league’s top half, Rennes had major difficulties in the past two weeks of Ligue 1. Rendered goalless by both Montpellier and Bastia, the side slid from being a top five powerhouse to a mid-table contender. The ability to display excellent counter attacks and protect the lead are still there, but there have been declines in their discipline and defense of set pieces.

Reims, meanwhile, have picked up three points from their most recent Ligue 1 battle (versus Evian TG) and defended their spot within the top 10. Diego netted a brace while Mandi scored in the second half. Only two goals were scored by their opponents, hence declaring championship. This victory was at the back of their back-to-back defeats from Lyon and Guingamp.

Football betting tip: Rennes and Reims will battle out a two-goal draw.

Metz vs. Monaco

Match Date: 21 December 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Saint Symphorien

After earning a peak league position at number five, Metz have since dwindled in the rankings. The squad have been winless in their past seven matches: six in Ligue 1 and one (the latest) in the Coupe de la Ligue. The only time they earned a point from this streak was when they met aganst Bordeaux, in which they delivered zero goals but held their opponents in a deadlock. Metz currently ranks just a spot above the relegation zone.

Monaco’s mishaps in the earlier portions of Ligue 1 oppose their current form. The side were winners in their last four matches and all of which were clean sheets (against Lens, Toulouse, and Marseille as well as against Zenit in the Champions League. In the domestic football, Monaco rank sixth.

Sports betting tip: Monaco will thump Metz.
