Premier League Round-Up (Week 11): Manchester City‘s Title Defence Under Threat, Burnley Snatches First Win

Week highlights

Another week of exciting football took place in the Premier League. It was a week of victorious feat for teams, which gained the crucial three (3) points, whilst those, which succumbed to defeat, will utilize the long break to regroup and strategize.

Let’s start off with the minnow, Burnley. Its narrow win against Burnley may not be that significant for some. Yet, come to think of it, the said victory was the first for the squad and after ten (10) long weeks of losing streak, they have finally gained their first three (3) points. It barely affected their rank though as they remain as relegation favorites of sports betting sites. Yet, who knows, this may be the start of their unprecedented rise.

Joining Burnley in the winning list is Manchester United. A Juan Mata inspired victory propelled the Red Devil’s ranks into the 7th spot. But let’s not forget that the team also owe it to the Angel that landed in the legendary field of Old Trafford—the man is no other than Angel di Maria.

But whilst the above-mentioned clubs linger in cloud nine, others are trapped in their own private hells.

Manchester City for one, will need to regroup. Its current performance was a far-flung shot of what it accomplished last season. Trailing the present league leader, Chelsea, by eight points, the defending champion was forced to settle for a stalemate against the lowly Queen Park Rangers.
Arsenal was also a huge disappointment last week. Arsene Wenger were outlasted by an aggressive Swansea, which scored two (2) goals, whilst they can only respond with one.

As usual, the talismanic Diego Costa was the center of the spotlight during the previous week.

The Spanish striker has been under fire after incurring an injury while performing his international duties, thus, making himself unavailable in Chelsea’s last two (2) matches/

The blunders

The Gunners has plenty of work to do and so is Liverpool. These clubs used to dominate the league, but their current performances manifested a lack of class and have hampered them from reaching their ambitions this season.

What to expect

Many are looking forward to seeing Manuel Pellegrini restore balance in the squad and give an outstanding title defence.
