Premier League Preview: West Bromwich vs. Sunderland

West Brom

West Brom

Two of the current table bottom occupants both need tremendous effort to spare them from relegation. West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland are barely getting any backing from online bookies and football supporters alike due to their recent flops in the Premier League this season. Now that they are approaching a faceoff with each other, winning this tourney will prove crucial to make a turnaround of their status. The match will be held on September 21 at The Hawthorns stadium, West Bromwich’s home ground.

The home squad are facing a player crisis, with the likes of Vysra, Reid, Thorne, Gera, and Foster out of the pack to specific reasons. This might affect West Bromwich’s advocacy of obtaining their first win in the season, having suffered a scoring drought from the past four matches. They opened their season campaign with a dismaying downfall from Southampton. While it was a very close fight, it ultimately ended with just one goal which was scored for their rivals. The Baggies’ next stint was pinned in a draw with Everton, after zero goal was scored from both sides. Swansea later gave Steve Clarke’s men their second defeat in the season, conceding two goals to their adversary. In their most recent match, West Bromwich again went one goal short of winning their tourney. They were forced on a draw with Fulham after McAuley scored an equalizer for Sidewell’s opening score.

Sunderland’s stint in this season’s Premier League was marred by a string of sinister defeats. Their curtain raiser saw the side earn zero points from Fulham, and although their second stint was a draw (with Southampton 1-1), their third appearance pushed them back to the bottom after newly promoted Crystal Palace smashed them on a 1-3 finish. The squad’ most recent tourney was also a heartbreaking downfall. Team boss Paolo Di Canio may have capitalized on Arsenal’s injury problems but their opponents were just too stubborn to submit to The Black Cats. In addition, Di Canio was fined £8,000 by the FA following a charge of misconduct. The Sunderland coach quarreled with referee Martin Atkinson after being angered by alleged Arsenal time-wasting and bias judging decisions earlier in the fixture. The side was defeated with three away goals against one home score.

Football betting tip: Neither of the sides has made a really strong impact this season, with both of them failing to make any impression. A draw is supposed to crown this match; but with West Bromwich obtaining more points than their rivals and having won all their last three matches with them, it is possible that Sunderland will have to settle for another loss 1-0.
