Premier League Match Prediction: Manchester City vs. Liverpool

Match Date: 26 December 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Etihad Stadium

Manchester City

Undefeated for the past six weeks, Manchester City are rightfully claiming the second highest spot in the league table. They are only one point short of the table leaders’ score, and a victory in their next fixture could mean domination over the entire tournament.

City play the strongest at home, with all of their home matches in the Premier League this season ending in victory.  They also set a record at home for the current term, being the team with the most goals scored in a match and the largest winning margin (both 7-0 over Norwich City). Their clash with Arsenal was also the highest scoring game in the season thus far, winning it on a 6-3 finish. In addition, three of the league’s 10 best scoring players belong to Manchester City: Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, and Alvaro Negredo.

Liverpool were surprisingly defeated by Hull City a few weeks ago, and the embarrassment they incurred from this incident was used to improve themselves, instead. The side have never been defeated in their subsequent matches, which include high-scoring victories over Norwich City 5-1, West Ham 4-1, and Cardiff City 3-1, as well as a clean sheet from Tottenham Hotspur 0-5.

The Reds are currently leading the league, but their position is at risk of being ripped off after they almost leveled on points with the second and third placers this week. Losing their next tourney—while their rivals are bagging their respective wins—means that they will inevitably slide in the table. However, Liverpool are a resilient pack of fighters. Succumbing to the opposition is not an option for them.

Online betting tip: This match is certainly one of the most anticipated brawls in the English top-tier football. A powerful exchange of stunts between Liverpool and Manchester City is expected, as well as a high scoring spree. Victory is plausible to either of the sides, but a draw will eventually lock this tourney up.
