Premier League Match Prediction: Aston Villa vs. Swansea City

Match Date: 28 December 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Villa Park

Aston Villa

If Aston Villa was a ship, it would be sailing rather roughly—not because it is navigating on turbulent waters, but because it has an uneven distribution of load. The squad have more losses than victories, suggesting a negative-digit goal difference. The club’s defense is not making any strong traction, and their attack is showing only an average ability. Fortunately, there are more troupes that are performing less impressively than The Villans, who are still a few points clear of relegation.

Four players are expected to not turn up in the side’s upcoming battles. Four-goal scorer (for the current season alone) Christian Benteke is out due to a knee injury, and his return date remain uncertain. Joe Bennett had his back strained, while Charles N’Zogbia is suffering from a damaged calf. Jores Okore is still on a nine-month recovery after his anterior cruciate ligament was severely ruptured.

Swansea City

Swansea City’s inconsistency problem is perhaps the very reason why they are still stuck in the league’s less safe region. Their finishes gave their streak an almost even number of wins, losses, and draws. They are neither impressive nor disappointing, but they are certainly not at par with the league’s best teams, at least for the past 17 matches.

The club have four players sidelined: Michel Vorm, Garry Monk, Nathan Dyer, and Michu—all injured. Nathan Dyer is the biggest loss for Swansea’s next battles, as the player is key to some of the side’s best displays. Dyer is currently one of the team’s best scorers, with four goals scored and equaled only by Wilfried Bony.

Football betting tip: With an identical number of sidelined players, almost even rankings in the table, and capacities that show no significant differences, Aston Villa and Swansea City could end their brawl in a draw.
