The contenders

Spain’s dismal performance during the 2014 World Cup forced the incumbent champion to turn their attention to the upcoming European Championship. Experiencing an early exit during the biggest footballing tournament in the world, was readily humiliating.
Certainly, Spain will not want another 5-1 thrashing from Netherlands and neither will it settle nor be content with qualifying in the group stage. The upcoming competition is a golden opportunity for the squad to regain the pride and confidence that it lost in the recently concluded, World Cup.

FYR Macedonia

Macedonia is one of the squads often seen at the rock bottom pit of its group. Similar to other struggling teams, it continues to dream of going past the qualifier stage.

However, compared to other teams, Macedonia can pull off shocks and stuns, which, more often than not, end in an even steven finish. Concrete examples of these were the 1-1 draw against Denmark in 1992; stalemates against Croatia and Ireland in 2000 and another round of draws against England and Slovakia in 2008.

Possible head turner

Team captain, Iker Casillas was among the players who bore the brunt of a disappointed crowd during the recently concluded World Cup. Certainly, the qualifiers is the perfect opportunity for him to seek redemption and help bring back La Roja’s glorious days.

What the odds say

In the sports betting site, 12BET, outright odd valued at 1.08 is given to Spain. The squad is expected to finish on top of its group.
