As of recent memory, Porto and Athletic Bilbao have not yet brawled in the same pitch for a UEFA fixture. This upcoming meeting between the Iberian powerhouses should result in an interesting battle, with both sides capable of displaying excellent stunts.

Porto

Porto’s debut in the tournament made them an early favorite among football fans, having been able to score staggering six goals against BATE but without conceding any. In their second match, the side again showed some surprises. Against fellow superpower Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto dramatically produced a stalemate and kept their form clean from any defeat. Their Ukrainian rivals looked to be winning the brawl with goals from Alex Teixeira and Luis Adriano putting the squad in front by the 85th minute while Porto were still scoreless. However, Jackson Martinez astonishingly rescued the Portuguese side from a possible upset, as he was able to produce a brace very late in the match and sealed the scoring to 2-2. The result helped them remain as the group’s front-runners.

Athletic Bilbao

Still winless since the Champions League Group round opened, Athletic Bilbao must beef up their faculties even more rapidly in order to pick themselves out of the group’s bottom. They debuted in the tournament with a goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk but in their second and most recent appearance, they have completely surrendered all points and lost their battle to BATE Borisov. All goals were scored in the first half, with the Ukrainian side’s Denis Polyakov and Aleksandr Karnitski putting their team in a 2-0 lead by the 41st minute before Bilbao’s Aritz Aduriz netted a late rally in the first half. In the second period, the defenses from both teams improved resulting in a second half that was completely deprived of goals. Hence, the tally remained 2-1 up to full-time. Including all competitions, Athletic Bilbao are winless in their past seven matches.

Champions League betting tip: Porto will remain unbeaten in the tournament. Bilbao will score but their rivals will eventually bag all three points.
