Match Date: 31 August 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Angelo Massimino

Striker Samuel Eto’o preferred to play for Chelsea rather than Inter. Yet, regardless of such disappointment, Inter still has the edge over Catania. The more pressing issue, however, is for how long they can maintain their momentum to last throughout the season.

Inter

Transfer disappointments can be the club’s more pressing problems than facing Catania.

Just recently, the club lost the opportunity to sport Samuel Eto’o into its starting XI. The sought-after striker chose to play for Chelsea instead, snubbing other lucrative offers. Along with this is the impending exit of winger Ezequiel Schelotto. Schelotto is about to debut in Sassuolo. As if these were not enough, stories regarding Tottenham’s interest for Alvaro Pereira, start to crop out.

Inter welcomed the season with a 2-0 win against Genoa and there is a possibility for them to do the same when they face Catania. However, the bigger issue in here is for how long they can sustain the same momentum. The league’s major clubs invested heavily in the transfer market. Juventus, for one, secured the signature of Carlos Tevez. And with the impending end of the transfer season, Inter needs to make its move as soon as possible.

Catania

Catania readily felt the absence of its former striker, Maxi Lopez. In its first match in the season, the club bowed down to Fiorentina with a score of 2-0.

Although it is still, too early to predict the club’s future, losing is far from being a good way to open the season.

Online bookie tip: Inter enjoys its second consecutive win

Catania can readily capitalize on their home court advantage. The club remains undefeated in its last 10 home matches. However, winning over Inter seems to be a futile attempt.

Inter had the upper-hand in their last 6 encounters. Catania won once. But that was two years ago. Given the changes that Inter went through, the odds of losing to Catania are slim.

There is a high possibility for Inter to dominate possession and benefit from unforced errors.
