Palermo had a very challenging run in the first half of the Italian top-flight football, debuting within the top nine of the league and dropping to as low as the 19th spot. However, they are generally luckier compared to Cagliari, who have spent their last few weeks in Serie A in the relegation zone, not to mention that they once plummeted at the rock bottom.

U.S. Città di Palermo

Rosanero finished 2014 with eight consecutive matches of unbeaten results, including four victories versus Chievo 1-0, Milan 0-2, Parma 2-1, and Sassuolo 2-1. These, along with their earlier accomplishments, helped them finish the year at the top half of the first division’s table. Thus far, the side’s most promising players are Paulo Dybala, Franco Vasquez, and Luca Rigoni who scored seven, five, and four goals, respectively this season. Giuseppe Iachini’s men have excellent attributes with regard to free kicks and creating scoring chances, but they will need to apply extra caution in their actions as they are quite vulnerable to committing technical errors and poor defense of the lead.

Cagliari Calcio

Cagliari debuted in the season with the strong promise of a great season after they ranked seventh as early as the kick-off. However, this never came to complete fruition as they have consistently dwindled in the standings every passing week. They have never truly showed quality football, and have instead made themselves prisoners of the relegation zone several times, including the last three active weeks of Serie A. There is apparently a major problem in both their attack and defense that Gianfranco Zola and his men must effectively address.

Football betting tip: Palermo will remain undefeated (for a ninth consecutive week) by bagging a clean sheet from Cagliari.
