Ligue 1 Prediction: Saint Etienne vs. Bordeaux

Brandao-Saint-Etienne

Match Date: 01 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stade Geoffroy-Guichard

Aubameyang’s exit left a void in the Les Verts squad. Through the effect are not that evident, the club’s conversion rate suffers. However, should the signing of Ghanian striker, Jordan Ayew materialize, there is a high possibility for the club to collect more points during the Bordeaux encounter.

Saint Etienne

Les Verts had its first taste of defeat this season, courtesy of Lille’s Salomon Kalou. Kalou’s penalty shot allowed his squad to endure the rigorous beating on the pitch and emerge as the victorious club.

Nevertheless, the defeat barely affects the club’s ranking. Sitting comfortably on the 6th spot, Chrisophe Galtier and his men remain a strong contender in France’s top-flight league. This is despite the transfer of the sensational striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Borussia Dortmund.

However, the scoring prowess of Les Verts seemed to slow down after Aubameyang’s departure. In 2 out of its 3 matches, the club has only scored a single goal. Yet, at the very least, the club’s current form show that they are still, in good shape despite the loss of one of their valued players.

Bordeaux

Los Girondins’ current form is quite the opposite of Les Verts. The former just had its first victory after losing to Monaco and forcing a draw against Toulouse. Against Bastia, the club hanged on to Heneri Saviet’s early goal.

Bordeaux currently holds the momentum. However, there is the question of consistency. Indeed, they won during their last match, but the bigger issue is whether they can continue their winning streak.

Online betting tip: Les Verts snatches its third win

Between the two, there is no doubt that Les Verts has the better form. Indeed, it cannot be denied that Aubameyang’s transfer has somehow, taken a toll in the team. However, in terms of efficiency, it is evident that the club remains a strong force to reckon with. Their previous victories manifested that they are far from being dependent to the stellar striker. But they must work on their conversion rate.

During the past three games, the club has been taking more shots than their respective opponents. But their conversion suffers a bit. Against Ajaccio, their conversion rate was pegged at 12%. When they met Guingamp, it went down to 11%.

The encounter against Bordeaux will most likely see Saint Etienne dominate the possession and create more scoring opportunities. It is also possible that the above-mentioned conversion problem can be resolved in the upcoming match.

Just recently, the club allegedly eyes for the Ghanian striker, Jordan Ayew. Should the deal push through before the match, the club shall immediate resolve their “conversion drought.”

Meanwhile, Bordeaux will be missing Gregory Sertic on the pitch. The midfielder nurses a fractured ankle and may not play for a month or longer. Other than this dilemma, the club is also bogged down by the impending exit of trusted goalkeeper, CĂ©dric Carrasso. There is still no confirmation on whether Carasso will indeed, go or leave.

With a much better form to boot, Saint Etienne has high chances of taking its 3rd win this season.
