Metz and Montpellier both did not lose their respective battles in the most recent match week of Ligue 1. However, only the away team managed to bag all three points following their rousing 2-1 victory against Marseille. Metz were only able to draw with Nantes, but failed to score any inning.

For their past five matches, Les Grenats have only won once—in a battle that saw them trounce Epinal at the Coupe de France 1-2 (Milan 15’ and N’Daw 53’). The rest of their streak is comprised of one draw (as mentioned earlier) and three defeats (to Lorient and Metz in the French top division and Nantes in the Coupe de la Ligue). Montpellier, meanwhile, have only lost once from the same streak, which was at the hands of PSG 0-3 in Coupe de France. The remainders were equally divided between draws and victories.

Sports betting tip: Metz and Montpellier will share the points.

Lorient vs. Lille

Match Date: 18 January 2015 (local)

Match Venue: Stade du Moustoir

Lorient’s recent run in Ligue 1 has been a mixture of peaks and (mostly) valleys. They may have triumphed over Metz last month through the goals of Ayew, Guerreiro, and Jeannot but the rest of their streak were largely disappointing. A 1-1 draw with Marseille was tolerable but losses to Bordeaux 3-2, Nantes 1-2, and Nice 3-1 had them deeply frustrated. Sylvain Ripoll’s men must find better ways to improve their defense and should learn to veer away from the offside more often.

Lille, while having a worse season than the last, are not necessarily among the least impressive teams in the competition. The side have won three out their last five matches in the French top-tier football, with all of them impressively ending in clean sheets. The only time they lost all three points to their rivals in this streak was when they netted an own goal (Nolan Roux) and had their equalizer (Idrissa Gueye) cancelled out by their opponents, Marseille. Les Dogues currently rank at number 11 in the league table.

Football betting tip: Lorient will succumb to Lille.
