In the most unexpected turn of events, Chelsea shockingly dropped all three points to succumb to strugglers Crystal Palace. The defeat could potentially (and deeply) hurt Chelsea’s bid for the championship as they are now faced with a more troublesome challenge of turning their fourth-spot status around. Palace, in contrast, just boosted their survival chances. The Blues entered the battle as leaders and with an unbeaten record in London derbies this season. However, a careless own goal by John Terry proved frustrating for the José Mourinho side as their opponents only needed that error to take away the silverware. Palace were organized, resilient, and dangerous on the counter-attack. They also displayed excellent defense and goalkeeping which prevented Chelsea from delivering an equalizer.

Stoke City are continuing a stellar trend in the English top-tier football as they remain unbeaten for five straight weeks. Clean sheets from Arsenal and Hull City, wins from West Ham and Aston Villa, as well as a draw with Norwich City were largely helpful in allowing The Potters to book a comfortable position within the top half. Mark Hughes’ men might still have some issues to address but their increasingly intimidating form is reassuring enough to look forward to a very strong finish in the season.

Football betting tip: This tourney could be a close one considering the sides’ recent and overall performances. But with Stoke City very frequent at fouling in dangerous areas, this meeting would see Chelsea rule the scoring as a result of opposition error.

Everton vs. Arsenal

Match Date: 06 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Goodison Park

Everton and Arsenal are now ranked side by side in the table after the latter slipped into the fourth spot and the former jumped onto the summit of the Europa League places. Everton’s last three matches have been highly successful that they already reached the 60-point threshold—thanks to the nine points they picked up from thumping Cardiff, Swansea, and Newcastle United.

The Toffees somewhat contrast the form of Arsenal who have suffered a series of mishaps for the last three weeks. The Gunners still mourn for the 6-0 defeat they incurred from Chelsea and have yet to fully recover after only seizing draws from their subsequent matches. Roberto Martínez’s men, if they are able to continue their winning streak, could potentially add another pressure on the apparent title chasers. While for the Arsène Wenger side, more serious efforts must be exerted in order for them to go back to where they have peaked this season.

Sports betting tip: This fixture will result in a deadlock.
